Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program

The US Department of Transportation Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program (CFI Program) was created through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to deploy publicly accessible electric vehicle charging and alternative fueling infrastructure. The application submission deadline for the most recent application cycle was June 2023.

The staff at TCRPC has received expressions of interest in pursuing this grant opportunity for its next application cycle. To prepare for this next grant application, the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission hosted a forum for all interested parties to learn more about this opportunity and affirm their interest in submitting a multi-jurisdiction regional application. This meeting took place on September 20, 2023 from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.

TCRPC hosted representatives from IDOT, municipalities, and other local experts to discuss and answer questions regarding eligibility and investment. With the understanding that grant applications are made more cooperative through multi-jurisdictional cooperation, Tri-County staff are continuing to gauge interest in order to take the crucial steps to ensure that our region is equipped with the tools necessary to participate in the modern transportation landscape.
