Tri-County Regional Planning Commission

Tri-County Regional Planning Commission has been active in non-motorized transportation planning and implementation for over ten years.  TCRPC continues to take a leadership role in non-motorized transportation issues in the Tri-County Region.

Getting around without using a car in town and between towns is more difficult in some areas than others. TCRPC is looking for opportunities to increase the miles of bike trails and bike lanes. The Greenways and Trails Task Force, which is dedicated to expanding the trails network in Woodford, Tazewell, and Peoria counties, will be studying possible trail routes that could give residents another option of how to get from place to place.

Specific bicycle and pedestrian projects and issues TCRPC is involved with include:

  1. Integrating bicyclist and pedestrian safety and infrastructure with traditional transportation planning
  2. Non-motorized transportation planning within the urbanized Peoria-Pekin Metro area
  3. Non-motorized transportation planning outside the urbanized area
  4. Creation and maintenance of a map detailing existing and proposed multi-use paths, bicycle lanes, and bicycle routes within the region
  5. Safe Routes to School advocacy at the local and State level
  6. Assistance to local units of government with grant applications for trail construction project.

For more information on any of TCRPC's non-motorized transportation planning activities, or to discuss bicycling and pedestrian issues in the Tri-County region, please contact John Chambers at 309-673-9330. He will share your ideas with the Greenways and Trails Task Force and others who are interested.
