Tri-County Regional Planning Commission
Representatives from Woodford County are working to update the County Comprehensive Plan document from summer 2008 until fall 2009.
The current Woodford County Comprehensive Land Use Plan (nicknamed the "Comprehensive Plan") was completed in 1996. Since so much has changed in the county since then, in 2008 the county decided to update its plan. The Comprehensive Plan addresses all sorts of issues in the county, including transportation, the environment, future development, recreational areas, agriculture, commercial development, residential areas, and others. The updated plan will expand on these topics as well as address new topics that have come up in the last decade. (Click here to download the current Comprehensive Land Use Plan.)
The Comprehensive Plan addresses issues in the county and is intended to be used to establish and re-visit goals that people throughout the county agree on. It is intended as a basis for the county-wide Zoning Ordinance. This helps ensure that zoning is consistent with county-wide goals and gives legal support to the zoning ordinance.
County Themes
The Comprehensive Plan Update Committee has developed six major topics, or themes, for the plan update. The committee has used results of a county-wide online survey, feedback from city and village hall meetings, information they and their organizations have, and other public input to focus on what appear to be the most important topics, listed below.
