PPUATS

Peoria-Pekin Urbanized Area Transportation Study

The Peoria-Pekin Urbanized Area Transportation Study (PPUATS) performs the duties of the metropolitan planning organization (MPO), for the Peoria-Pekin Urbanized Area. These responsibilities specifically involve administering the federally-mandated transportation planning processes for the urbanized area. PPUATS members represent the cities, villages, and counties within the urbanized area, along with the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District and Greater Peoria Airport District. PPUATS is comprised of two committees, the Technical Committee and Policy Committee. These groups meet once per month to discuss transportation issues on a regional level.

PPUATS Policy Committee

The PPUATS Policy Committee directs the transportation planning activities of the urbanized area. It is responsible for adopting and implementing policies and plans to meet federal guidelines, including but not limited to the Long-Range Transportation Plan (LRTP), the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), and the annual Unified Work Program (UWP). The Policy Committee is mandated to vote on the Technical Committee recommendations.  The Policy Committee is made up of elected and appointed officials of member organizations and is the decision-making body for PPUATS. PPUATS Technical Committee

The PPUATS Technical Committee is responsible for discussing transportation issues on a regional level.  Throughout the year, the Technical Committee reviews and recommends planning policies and measures to the PPUATS Policy Committee. The Technical Committee is made up of transportation professionals appointed by their respective PPUATS community. The PPUATS Technical Committee meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. unless otherwise posted.
